It fills me with warmth to read this lovely book, a tender vignette that melds the mysticism of cosmic lore with the intimacy of a family vignette. Little Night by @yuyimorales follows the work of the larger-than-life Mother Sky as she goes through her daughter’s bedtime routine. Each time her mother calls her, Little Night mischievously hides in the nooks and crannies of nature: behind the hills, in the bats’ cave, in the blueberry field. But Mother Sky finds her every time and with a loving touch guides her back to the task at hand: bathing in a tub filled with stars, donning a dress crocheted from clouds, throwing and catching the moon. With magic realism and lyrical line writing, Morales creates a beautiful fusion of high myth and delicate slice-of-life story. The art supports the narrative’s celestial imagery with rich, painterly textures and deeply saturated colors. #night #sky #stars #mother #daughter #bedtime #love #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
