If you think you’d enjoy a ferocious battle of mythic proportions, have a look at Joshua M. Greene and Patrick Wire’s Kaliya: Serpent King. In this retelling of an ancient Vedic tale from the Sanskrit Bhagavata Purana, the young Krishna protects a community from the venomous presence of Kaliya, a many-headed snake who breathes fire and snorts noxious fumes. The divine being dances and stamps on each of the heads, simultaneously weakening the creature, beating out its poison, and humbling it utterly. Greene’s portrayal of Krishna as a good-hearted fusion of holy avatar and merry prankster is enhanced by Wire’s dynamic, jewel-toned artwork. #serpent #king #snake #krishna #hindu #hinduism #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
