It’s difficult (and perhaps all too common) to feel like a failure surrounded by success. For some of us, it’s merely our perception, a case of so-called “Impostor Syndrome”. For the dragon protagonist of Gina Wilson and @pjlynchgallery’s Ignis, however, the evidence is plain to see; unlike all the others in his community, he cannot breathe fire. How, he wonders, can he be a real dragon without fire? If he is in fact destined for a flame all his own, where is it? Ignis sets off on a journey to discover his true nature and awaken the spark within. Wilson fleshes out her engaging premise with a cheerful atmosphere and pleasingly tactile details. Lynch mines the story for its emotional beats, depicting worry, delight, surprise, and exquisite tenderness on the characters’ deeply expressive faces in his richly textured watercolor and gouache artwork. #dragon #dragons #fire #volcano #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
