Have you ever left home and wandered out into a magical night where anything could happen? The Night Riders, a wordless picture book by Matt Furie, depicts just such a marvelous journey. An anthropomorphic frog wakes up and takes a bicycle ride along with a faithful rat companion through a bizarre landscape teeming with eerie wildlife, including a large, fanged wyvern and a bat operating a subterranean computer console. Together, the motley crew dive underwater, resurface, and perch on a cliff top to watch the sun rise. Furie’s surreal art creates an atmosphere of enchantment and delight. Curiously, the video game on the bat’s underground screen appears to presage the group’s encounter with an albino hermit crab on the ocean floor. #night #riders #frog #rat #bat #underground #ocean #sea #sunrise #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
