Have you ever been convinced that just one little change to the world around you would make everything better? Perhaps you were right. And so, it seems, is the protagonist of Catching the Moon by @myla_goldberg and @chrissheban. When an old Fisherwoman begins casting her line off the pier each night, all who notice wonder why she chooses to fish in the dark. As curious as any of them is the Man in the Moon, who begins visiting her in disguise each month, tempting her with ethereal delicacies like sea cucumber sandwiches and moon pie. Eventually, he learns of the Fisherwoman’s unusual motive: she means to reel in the moon itself to stop the ocean from wearing away at the houses and docks at the water’s edge. Eventually, with the application of some miraculous moon paint, the tide ebbs and a new equilibrium is reached. Goldberg unfurls her whimsical tale with eloquent prose, while Sheban’s soft watercolor-and-pencil artwork brings a warm, hazy glow to the proceedings. #moon #ocean #sea #water #fishing #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
