The book of the day is Apple by @nikkimcclure. A series of woodcuts follows an apple from its harvesting in an orchard to its inclusion in a child’s school lunch to its decomposition and rebirth as a seedling after winter’s end. McClure’s cut-paper art consists of black and white images, save for several key items—the apple, the backpack that transports it, and the mittens on the hands that once held it. On the page facing each illustration is a single word (also in red) describing the action or theme of the image. #apple #orchard #harvest #fruit #seed #plant #planting #grow #growth #nature #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
