Even when one is surrounded by opportunities, one can still be bored. Even when one is all alone, one can still create entire universes of wonder. For a perfect example, see Zephyr Takes Flight by Steve Light. Sent to her room for making a pest of herself with her toy airplanes, a young girl peers behind her dresser and discovers a mysterious door leading to a hangar filled with exotic aircraft. She climbs aboard a multi-tiered dirigible and soars off to a pastoral landscape populated by convivial winged pigs. Light’s short, punchy sentences and warm-hued, loosely drawn art combine for a merry romp. Whether the strange portal to a world of escapist fantasy exists in the reality of Zephyr’s room or simply in her imagination is left up to the reader. #flight #fly #flying #plane #airplane #pigs #imagination #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
