Here is Sebastian and the Balloon, written and illustrated by Philip C. Stead, one half of @number5bus. If you’re feeling bored, listless, or apathetic, this book just might have a little something for you. Sebastian sits on his roof, looking around and spotting absolutely nothing of interest. He gathers everything he will ever need, piles it into a hot air balloon of his own making, and soars into the sky. On his voyage, he meets and befriends a real bear, a tall bird, and three knitting sisters. The motley crew bands together to fix up an old roller coaster and they spend a delightful day careening around the rickety track. Stead takes a matter-of-fact approach to Sebastian’s fantasy excursion, with straightforward language and dialogue bolstered by gently expressive art made from pastel, oil paint, and pressed charcoal. #balloon #hotairballoon #bear #bird #sisters #knitting #rollercoaster #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
