If you’re looking for a lighthearted and unpredictable adventure, Chris Van Allsburg’s Probuditi! is an irresistible tale that explores the perils of tampering with forces beyond one’s understanding and control. For his birthday present, Calvin’s mother gives him two tickets to a magic show. He and his best friend Rodney sit amazed as Lomax the Magnificent hypnotizes a volunteer from the audience and makes her behave like a chicken. Inspired, the boys assemble a homemade mesmerism device to implant the suggestion into Calvin’s younger sister Trudy that she is a dog. Too late do they recall that the magician ended the hypnotic spell with a specific mysterious word. Having forgotten this word, the two friends must figure out an alternate method of bringing Trudy out of her canine trance. With engaging prose and vivid, sepia-toned art, Van Allsburg tells an entertaining story whose twist ending may leave readers turning back to reexamine and reevaluate the character dynamics from start to finish. #magician #machine #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
