Humble Pie, written by Jennifer Donnelly and illustrated by Stephen Gammell is a jocular and fanciful look at the depths of one child’s insolence and the lengths to which one family member will go to transform his attitude. Theo’s grows up in a family with loving parents who give him everything his heart desires. However, unappreciative of their doting and fawning, he develops into an obstreperously behaved child. One day, his grandmother chants a magic spell and traps him into an enormous pie. Theo rolls this way and that, but nobody can understand his pleas for assistance. He finally escapes and returns home a contrite and dutiful son, having eaten “humble pie”. Donnelly’s merry wit makes for a thoroughly entertaining read, with Gammell contributing frenetically speckled and splattered illustrations. #humble #pie #grandmother #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
