If you’re after a diverting science fiction tale, take a look at The Gobblings by Mattheu Roth and Rohan Daniel Eason. Herbie and his parents have just moved to a new space station, several star systems away from their old home. He is left mostly to his own devices, as there are so many import tasks for the adults to complete. However, an insidious threat soon makes itself known. Unbeknownst to all, a brood of metal-eating space parasites called “gobblings” have hitched a ride on the family’s transport vehicle and now begin to devour the machinery of the station. Fortunately for all onboard, Herbie is able to lure the creatures away with a few of his homemade robot friends, trap them in the landing dock, and eject them into space. Roth’s exciting story is well complemented by Eason’s engaging drawings, particularly his depiction of the eponymous aliens as monstrous cephalopods with long beaks and jagged teeth. #space #alien #aliens #sciencefiction #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
