Here is a breathtaking meditation on time and the human condition: @j.patricklewis and Roberto Innocenti’s The House. A house built in 1656, long since abandoned and fallen into disrepair, is rediscovered and renovated at the turn of the twentieth century. Over the course of a hundred years, it stands silent witness to community, toil, joy, war, grief, hope, love, death, and the passage of generations. Lewis organizes his poetic narrative into elegant quatrains in iambic pentameter, alternating between an AABB and an ABBA rhyme scheme. Innocenti accompanies each stanza with an illustration of the eponymous house from exactly the same perspective, a choice that results in a captivating time-lapse effect. #house #family #history #time #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
