A smile will surely come to your face as you flip through @tomiungerer’s Crictor. Madame Louise Bodot, a teacher in a little French town, receives an odd birthday present from her herpetologist son: a boa constrictor. Though initially shocked, she soon concludes she has nothing to fear from the snake, as it is not poisonous. She names her new pet Crictor and dotes on it in every way. When a burglar breaks into the apartment and threatens Madame Bodot, the reptile leaps into action, restraining the intruder until the police arrive. The entire town honors Crictor for his bravery, awarding him a medal, a statue, and a public park in his honor. Ungerer’s black-and-white drawings, tinged with various shades of green, add a charming visual element to the text’s straight-faced tone. #snake #boa #friend #friends #friendship #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookcover #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
