The book of the day is Kashtanka, adapted from Ronald Meyer’s translation of Anton Chekhov’s short story and illustrated by Gennady Spirin. After becoming separated from her owners, a chestnut-colored dog who resembles a little fox is found and taken in by an animal trainer who performs in the circus. She rehearses an act with the master and his goose, cat, and sow, and after many months the troupe enters the circus. As they begin their performance, Kashtanka hears the excited shouts of her former owners in the audience. Reunited, dog and humans leave together in happiness. Spirin’s elegant treatment of the story brings beauty and lively energy to the proceedings. #dog #goose #cat #pig #circus #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookcover #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
