Let’s journey through the mists of time as we flip through the pages of Leo Yerxa’s Ancient Thunder. The book celebrates the freedom and spirit of wild horses, with each page depicting figures, landscapes, and heavenly bodies on fringed leather clothing. Taking inspiration from designs he discovered in books and museums, Yerxa has applied watercolor and gouache on handmade watercolor paper to replicate the leather texture. He unfolds the text in short, poetic phrases honoring his Ojibway heritage and the traditions of native people of the Great Plains. #ancient #thunder #horse #horses #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
