For a diverting tale with plenty of action and historical intrigue, have Margaret Early’s Robin Hood. Each page chronicles a further chapter in the life story of the legendary outlaw, including the beginning of his exploits, his first encounters with Little John and the Merry Men, his love of Maid Marian, his conflicts with the Sheriff of Nottingham, and his eventual death. Early’s writing faithfully follows the well-known stories with clear and engaging language, while the bright colors and flattened perspective of her illustrations call to mind medieval art. A note for folklore enthusiasts: Robin Hood has long stood as an iconic figure in medieval English folklore. The historicity of his legend, a matter of extensive debate, may never be settled, not least because of the prevalence of the names “Robin” (a diminutive of “Robert”) and “Hood” (thought by some to be descended from “Wood”). #robinhood #medieval #book #books #childrensbooks #fairytalebook #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
