In honor of the delightful Shirley Hughes, come and flip through her gentle yet deeply observational poetry collection Out and About. The verses within follow a child’s experience from day to day, as weeks and months pass and one season slips into the next. With simple, elegant language, paired with warm-toned illustrations, Hughes celebrates small childhood moments such as squelching in mud puddles, trekking through tall grass, exploring at the beach, relaxing among the flowers, admiring the turn of the leaves, marveling before a roaring fire, and sledding down snow-covered hills—touchstone experiences shared by groups of joyous friends. May we all share such love and comfort with those around us. Rest in peace, Ms. Hughes. #out #about #child #children #childhood #play #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
