Come away on a day trip into your daydreams in the charming Imagine a City by @elise.hurst. A woman and two children board a lushly-appointed railroad train. After a pleasant journey, they arrive in a marvelous city, home to breathtaking sights and locations. They make their way through throngs of humans and anthropomorphic animals as they visit a museum where the paintings spill out of their frames, take a ride on an enormous airborne fish, browse a bookstore whose stories come to life, explore a curio shop filled with arcane trinkets, float in a basket through a soaring, vaulted cavern, and drift down a river on giant lily pads. At the end of the adventure, the family returns home on the train, with the incredible events of the day hinted to have taken place in a snow globe. Hurst pairs her playful, loosely rhymed verse with black and white pen-and-ink drawings of breathtaking scale and cinematic scope. #imagine #city #imagination #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
