Today I’m enjoying the gentle and lightly metaphysical sweetness of How to Catch a Star by @oliverjeffers. A young boy that loves stars wishes to have one of his very own. He spends many nights looking thoughtfully out the window and imagining the wonderful things he and his star might do together. Finally, he tries to catch one, but no matter what he simply cannot reach any. Finally, as he walks along the beach, he discovers an unexpected star lying in the sand—not necessarily the type of star he initially set out to capture, but just as good in his mind. With his clever text and signature geometric art style, Jeffers faithfully represents children’s admirable tendency to start out a dramatic play scenario with a firm idea in mind but flexibly pivot to something else when required. #catch #star #stars #night #sky #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
