Let us slow down even as we appreciate a vehicle of great speed: here is Freight Train by Donald Crews. In this elegantly simple concept book, a train travels along a track from one spot to another. The first few pages appear as an informational text, presenting detailed drawings of the train cars labeled with accurate names. Once the entire train is revealed, the remainder of the book takes on the quality of realistic fiction, with aesthetic design taking center stage. Crews assigns each car a different color and represents the rapid movement with gorgeous blur. Finally, on the last page, the train rushes away leaving only a plume of smoke in its wake. #freight #train #red #orange #yellow #green #blue #purple #black #book #books #childrensbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
