Today I’m sneaking into a parallel reality in the pages of Through the Magic Mirror by Anthony Browne. Unable to find anything interesting about his parents or his house, Toby heads upstairs. Suddenly, he notices something strange about his reflection: it appears to be facing away from him. He steps through the mirror and finds himself in an alternate world powered by surreal dream logic. Here, suits of clothing walk around by themselves, workmen paint color onto the sky, and flocks of choirboys float through the air. Toby finds the mirror portal once more and returns to his own home, little the worse for wear and excited by the wondrous sights he has witnessed. Pairing his clear language with images of mind-bending impossibility, Browne has a good deal of fun with his simple, inviting premise. #magic #mirror #surreal #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
