The book of the day is Keith Baker’s The Magic Fan. Yoshi, a young master craftsman in his village by the sea, wishes for the challenge of building things he has never built before. One night, he looks out at the water and sees floating toward him a mysterious fan. The surface of the fan begins displaying visions that spur the boy to construct a boat that can sail to the moon, a kite that can fly with the clouds, and a bridge that stands strong enough to protect the people when Namazu the earthquake fish sends a tsunami to destroy the village. Baker’s thoughtful writing explores confidence, inspiration, and personal fulfillment; his art, rendered in acrylic on illustration board, is enhanced by its presentation on elegant fan-shaped cut flaps. #magic #fan #boat #kite #bridge #build #builder #building #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
