Have you ever felt alone? Isolated? Oppressed? Has the world ever seemed to be aligned against you? What would you do if you had absolutely nowhere to turn? I pondered these and many other questions while reading @d.ouimet’s I Go Quiet. A young girl lives a life of drudgery surrounded by masked throngs in a dystopian world. Though pressed into silence and conformity, she inwardly longs to use her voice and express her individuality. She takes small moments to herself, vanishing between the pages of books or into the landscape of her imagination. Through a poetic and introspective first-person narrative, combined with eerie illustrations in sepia, powder blue, and charcoal black, Ouimet makes a powerful statement on the irrepressible creativity and strength of the human spirit. #quiet #mask #imagination #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
