@underwoodwriter and @cindyderby’s Outside In may well inspire readers to find time to step out of their enclosures and open themselves to new (or perhaps old) experiences. A lament for our lost connection to the environment soon gives way to an optimistic exploration of the subtle ways we maintain physical and spiritual connection to the world around us. Underwood’s eloquent and introspective text and Derby’s expressionistic handcrafted art (watercolor and powdered graphite, with thread and dried flower stems used as drawing implements) combine to reveal a powerful yet soothing meditation on humanity’s relationship to nature. #outside #in #plants #animals #outdoor #outdoors #nature #environment #world #earth #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
