There’s a soothing celebration of the vitality of spring at the heart of The Story of the Wind Children by Sibylle von Olfers. When young George attempts to sail his toy boat on the lake, he finds the weather completely calm. Just then Willow the Wind Sprite jumps down from a nearby tree and sets the little craft moving with a puff of her breath. The two share a magical day together running through fields of dandelion puffs, sharing apples with the kindly Rosehip children, trying to catch the airborne Leaf Children, and riding cloud horses across the sky. Finally, the day draws to a close and the two companions part, but they agree to meet for further adventures the following day. Von Olfers imbues her story and art with a delicate simplicity and reverence for the natural world. #wind #children #plants #animals #seasons #nature #life #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
