There’s an ethereal quality to the pensive prose poetry of The Dam by David Almond and @levi_pinfold. Kathryn’s father wakes her up early. The two of them take a quiet and reflective walk through a valley, Kathryn bringing her fiddle. It is the last time they will be able to visit, for the entire area is due to be flooded by the construction of a nearby dam. Father and daughter visit all the abandoned houses, singing and playing music in each one. Even after the dam is built and the waters have risen, the music can still be heard—and felt—all around.
