What do you do when you’re lying awake at night? Have you ever looked out the window and seen something you could never explain in the light of day? If so, you may relate to the protagonist of Dreams by Ezra Jack Keats. Roberto cannot sleep. When he looks out his window, he notices a cat cornered by a dog in the alley below. He accidentally knocks his paper mouse, a project made in school, off the ledge, and it plummets downward. Yet somehow the mouse’s shadow grows bigger and bigger until it frightens the dog away, allowing the cat to escape. Satisfied, Roberto finally falls asleep and begins to dream. Keats uses a combination of collage and acrylic painting to bring his gently mysterious story to life. #dreams #dream #dreaming #window #paper #mouse #night #sleep #cat #dog #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
