For a clear-eyed celebration of lupine splendor, I recommend Paul and the Wolf by Margo Lemieux and Bill Nelson. A young boy tells his father of a frightening piece of music his teacher played for the class. The composition in question turns out to be Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. When the son expresses antipathy toward wolves, the father offers a contrasting perspective by telling a tale about a man and a wolf and the lifelong bond between them. Lemieux uses the story-within-a-story structure to construct a gentle plea for kindness towards wolves, which Nelson illustrates with sensitivity and warmth. #paul #wolf #wolves #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
