If you live in a part of the world where colder months transition to warmer, how do you experience the shift? Is it sudden or gradual? What changes do you notice in nature? What emotions do you associate with this particular moment in the yearly cycle? These are the questions that come to mind when reading Mud by Mary Lyn Ray and @lauren_stringer_artist_author. With tactike poetic imagery, the text gently and lovingly follows the process by which the frozen earth thaws as winter melts into spring. Ray’s eloquent writing is well complemented by Stringer’s soft-edged, curvilinear compositions depicting a child’s feet venturing into the mud’s squishy embrace. #mud #snow #ground #earth #winter #spring #season #seasons #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
