There’s a manic and madcap energy at play in My Friend Rabbit by Eric Rohmann. A mouse narrates this quirky tale of comedy and endearing mischief. Mouse’s best friend, the cheerful and energetic Rabbit, means well but always seems to cause trouble. Here, he accidentally launches their small propeller plane into the branches of a nearby tree. In an effort to retrieve the craft, Rabbit bodily drags a preposterous series of animals—an elephant, a rhinoceros, a hippopotamus, a deer, a crocodile, a squirrel, a bear, a duck, and four ducklings—over to the tree and somehow stacks them up to form an enormous tower. Rabbit and Mouse climb to the very top, but a predictable tumble ensues. How will the friends escape this mess? Rohmann supplements his spare text with thick-lined relief prints and watercolor. His audacious cliffhanger ending leaves readers simultaneously chuckling and wondering what might happen next. #friend #rabbit #mouse #airplane #plane #tree #animal #animals #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
