While you and I would surely be terrified to be kidnapped unexpectedly by a large monster, the ordeal makes for a rollicking read in Diane Goode’s I Hear a Noise. A strange sound from outside his window at night prompts a young boy to repeatedly call his mother into the bedroom. She dismisses his fear, but it turns out he does indeed have cause for alarm: a dragon bursts in, snatches them both up, and whisks them away to a cloudy fortress in the sky. A trio of lizard bullies seizes the two helpless humans, but the dragon’s gargantuan mother steps in to set things right. Soon enough, mother and child are safe and sound back at home. Goode pairs her witty narrative, consisting of just a few words of dialogue, with whimsical fantasy art. #noise #sound #night #son #mother #dragon #sky #cloud #clouds #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
