Have you ever been searching for a spot to complete a difficult task—or simply to relax—and wished that everyone would just go away for a while? So too does the long-suffering protagonist of @verabee’s wry and faintly metaphysical Leave Me Alone! A grandmother attempting to finish her knitting is constantly thwarted by her hordes of pesky grandchildren. If she is to complete her work in a timely fashion, she will need some peace and quiet. She therefore leaves home and sets off into the wilderness. She stops in a quiet forest, but is immediately annoyed by a towering bear. She sits on a frosty mountaintop, but a herd of goats begins to crowd her. Farther and farther she goes, so desperate for solitude that she begins to play fast and loose with the laws of reality. She marches effortlessly onto the moon, but a vexing collective of little green aliens instantly throngs around her. Finally, she steps into a wormhole and finds herself in a pitch-black void. There, outside the bounds of spacetime, she can knit uninterrupted. Once she is done, she makes her way back home without a care in the world. Brosgol’s tongue-in-cheek narration is perfectly matched by her whimsical cartoon-style art. #leave #alone #grandmother #family #knit #knitting #forest #woods #mountain #moon #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
