Held captive by the power of Hansel and Gretel, I present Francesca Cosanti’s eclectic vision of the tale. The story unfolds through surreal collages replete with rough textures and stark shadows. Fascinatingly, the witch can be found hidden in illustrations throughout the book—as a skulking figure behind a tree near the trail of pebbles home, as a giant, rocky hill when the brother and sister build their fire, and even after her own death as a spectral cloud of smoke rising from the chimney to watch the children one last time as they flee toward safety. #forest #woods #house #witch #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
