Imagine being beckoned into a strange land, not by a magical invitation but by the theft of something very precious to you. This is the driving force behind the mysterious wordless adventure of @sgraegin’s Little Fox in the Forest. A young girl learns that her class will be having Show-and-Tell, and her teacher prompts the students to bring in something old and treasured. She chooses her beloved stuffed fox. Out on the playground, however, the toy fox is stolen by a real fox, an anthropomorphic creature who promptly runs off into the trees. The girl gives chase, followed closely by a boy from her class, and the two soon enter a neighborhood of busy streets and bustling shops, all populated by the forest animals. When she finally reaches the little fox’s home she finds her quarry unexpectedly sympathetic. A trade is made, and human and fox contentedly part ways. Through comic-style panels created in pencil, watercolor, and ink and colored digitally, Graegin presents a whirlwind trip into a delightful parallel world. Fascinatingly, the young girl’s daily life in the real world is depicted in desaturated blues and grays; the little fox introduces a contrasting spot of orange, and his anthropomorphic neighbors boast a wide range of rich hues. #little #fox #forest #woods #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
