I’m relishing the madcap tall tales of Heinz Janisch and Aljoscha Blau’s The Fantastic Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Delightfully weird incidents include a horse snagged on a church steeple, a flurry of goose feathers, a ride on a cannonball, pulling oneself upward by the hair in midair, running in place to rotate the earth beneath one’s feet, a sack full of sunshine, and an orchestral concert played in the belly of a whale. Janisch’s text, translated from German by Belinda Cooper, conveys the marvelous strangeness of the baron’s stories, accompanied by Blau’s elegantly surreal illustrations. #adventures #adventure #ridiculous #humor #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
