For a chuckle, check out Charles Santore’s eye-popping illustrations for Charles Edward Carryl’s classic poem The Camel’s Lament. The book presents a series of animals, charmingly depicted and well considered. A camel, narrating the text, compares itself to each other creature, bemoaning its relatively shabby position when it comes to diet, sleep, housing, passengers, and body shape. Carryl’s text amuses with its dancing rhythms and clever rhymes, while Santore’s menagerie of charismatic creatures may invite the reader to question whether the camel truly is worse off than the others. #camel #animal #animals #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
