The book of the day is Heartbeat by @evanturkart. A huge whale and its young offspring swim through the ocean, joining their whale song in aquatic harmony. One day, their happiness is violently sundered by a whale hunt. The baby whale is forced to swim through the oceans alone until it finds solace and connection in the voice of a young girl, whose voice acts as a balm and a guide. Throughout the story, Turk pairs a stripped-down text with haunting imagery evoking the passing of time and the connection between whales’ bodies and the march of human progress. #heart #beat #heartbeat #whale #whales #song #sing #singing #mother #child #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
