There’s a warm and inspiring message buried deep in the core of David McPhail’s Mole Music. The story takes place in a cozy underground burrow. Mole sees a man playing the violin on television and decides to send away for a violin of his own. At first, the notes he produces are all ugly and shrill, but he practices and practices until he can play beautifully. As McPhail unfolds his gentle story, he cleverly juxtaposes Mole’s idle thoughts about playing in front of an audience with the profound effects (unmentioned in the text) his melodies have as they float up above ground. Ultimately, the music causes an imminent war to dissolve into peaceful camaraderie and enriches the lives of all who hear it. #music #violin #underground #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
