I highly recommend a read-through of @sacredbee’s The Whisper. A young girl borrows a magical book of stories from her teacher. When she opens it that evening, however, she discovers that the pictures are not accompanied by any words. She is deeply disappointed, having looked forward to reading it. Just then, a mysterious whisper on the wind encourages her to imagine the stories herself, and she envisions complex, engaging tales with the turn of each page. On the way to school the next morning, the girl meets a talking fox, who hands her a sack and tells her it contains the missing words—which somehow spilled from the book the previous day. She returns to her teacher a wiser and more resourceful storyteller. Through delicate text and shimmering mixed-media paintings, Zagarenski offers tantalizing glimpses into the girl’s fantastical narratives. #story #stories #storyteller #storytelling #fox #mystery #mysterious #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
