Kristen Hall and @mattforsythe create a powerful and visually sumptuous parable in The Gold Leaf. The book opens in a lush forest in the first days of spring. To their surprise, the woodland creatures discover a leaf that shines with a golden luster. They soon begin to quarrel, each scrambling to acquire the precious object. After much yanking and snatching and tearing, the leaf lies in shreds. Dejectedly, the animals move on with their lives. Summer passes, then fall, then winter, and finally spring arrives once more. Another gold leaf appears, but this time the residents of the forest wisely appreciate it without greed or jealousy. Hall unveils the gentle moral with care snd subtlety, while Forsythe illustrates the forest with a dazzling array of hazy, jewel-bright hues. #gold #leaf #goldleaf #golden #forest #woods #animal #animals #spring #summer #fall #autumn #winter #book #books #childrensbooks #picturebook #childrensbookillustration #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
