Imagine yourself stalked by a silent, sinister silhouette. This eerie scenario forms the premise of The Black Rabbit by Philippa Leathers. Rabbit wakes up and starts out on his daily routine, but he soon realizes he is being followed. Everywhere he goes, he sees what appears to be an enormous Black Rabbit. He runs this way and that, but his pursuer remains close by, never saying a word. At his wits’ end, Rabbit runs into the deep, dark wood, where he finally loses the Black Rabbit. But now he encounters another threat—Wolf. Rabbit runs for his life, but just as he thinks he is doomed, he receives help from an unlikely source when the Black Rabbit reappears in the nick of time and frightens Wolf away. With a gentle text and cool-hued art, Leathers constructs a lightly humorous parable about very real dangers lurking in the world and the folly of running from one’s own shadow. #black #rabbit #forest #woods #wolf #shadow #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
