@ruthsandersonart crafts a dazzling tale of adventure in The Crystal Mountain. A woman named Anna earns a living for herself and her sons through her skill as a weaver. After dreaming of a mansion surrounded by a wondrous garden, she spends three years recreating her fantastic vision in the form of a tapestry. Then, disaster strikes—a sudden wind carries her work away to the Fairies of the Crystal Mountain, who can only be reached by crossing a fiery plane and an icy sea without making a sound. While Anna’s two older sons turn away from the fearsome quest, the youngest reaches the fairies’ stronghold and retrieves the marvelous tapestry with the help of three magical horses. With eloquent text and richly colored oil paintings, Sanderson draws the reader along a winding path to a satisfying conclusion. A note for folklore enthusiasts: Sanderson draws inspiration from both Chinese and Norwegian sources to create an original hybrid. #crystal #mountain #weave #weaving #tapestry #fire #ice #sea #fairy #fairies #magic #book #books #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
