The book of the day is Jay Williams and Mercer Mayer’s Everyone Knows What a Dragon Looks Like. A messenger arrives at the city of Wu and tells the Mandarin that Wild Horsemen are on their way, bringing war and destruction. The court and all the citizens begin praying to the Great Cloud Dragon for aid. The next day, a little old man in simple attire arrives in the city, claiming to be a dragon. He is quickly dismissed by the Mandarin and his councilors. Each official reasons that dragons must look like him, and therefore the shabby old stranger cannot be a dragon. Only a young boy named Han, a city gate-sweeper, treats the visitor respectfully by offering him food, drink, and hospitality. For Han’s sake, the old man dispatches the Wild Horsemen and saves the city. Williams crafts an elegant and exciting tale, while Mayer’s illustrations provide grandeur and spectacle. #dragon #city #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
