As Little Red Riding Hood Sequel Week draws to a close, let us emerge into the light of a new world. I invite you to share with me the transcendent beauty of Little Red, a meditative and profound wordless picture book by @beatrizmartinvidal. The work is composed of twenty-four images, which are divided into three sequences of eight each. In “Going Red”, a young girl is caught in a whirlwind of red leaves, which swirl around her and weave themselves together to form a tight-fitting hood. “The Game of Questions” shows the girl examining a pallid white mask, which is soon revealed to be perched on the snout of a shadowy wolf. Finally, “Going Out” depicts the girl rising from within the wolf’s hairy hide and leaping into the air, blood-red flowers sprouting from the wound and bursting into bloom around her. The colors and textures of Vidal’s stunning visual achievement recall a cross between a dreamy silent film and an exquisite ballet. #little #red #grandmother #wolf #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
