@sandradieckmann’s The Dog That Ate the World is by turns thrilling, bleak, and heartwarming. A group of animals resides in a peaceful valley. They spend their days in harmony until the arrival of a menacing dog, who starts to devour everything in sight. No plan the animals devise—playing soothing music, talking to the dog, building inventive decoys—is effective. The dog swallows them all. The terrible beast consumes forests, mountains, and finally the sun itself. And then something unexpected happens: the dog is left in a barren void. Having swallowed the world, it becomes the world, and the animals within can live in happiness once more. Dieckmann’s compelling original story and warm-hued art lead to a serene ending that meets conflict with a gentle and philosophical solution. #dog #world #valley #animal #animals #eat #eats #eating #sun #dark #light #book #books #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
