How do you adapt when the peaceful order of your everyday life is shattered by an inherently chaotic interloper? @marlafrazee’s wordless trilogy continues with The Farmer and the Monkey. Picking up immediately after the conclusion of the previous book, the story opens with the farmer returning home followed by the circus train’s lovable, mischievous pet monkey. Having bid a tender goodbye to his friend the young clown, the farmer is in no mood for jiggery-pokery. At first he orders the frenetic creature out of his house, but a sudden snowfall brings him a change of heart. He cares for the monkey as best he can, over the strenuous objections of his farm animals. When the circus train returns once more, the farmer sends his new friend off with a snare drum and a fully packed picnic basket for the road. As in The Farmer and the Clown, Frazee underscores the contrast between the title characters—the farmer remains a curmudgeonly figure, while the monkey brims with manic energy. #farmer #monkey #animals #friend #friends #friendship #kindness #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
