Fever Dream is an unsettling little slice of science fiction horror by Ray Bradbury with illustrations by Darrel Anderson. Charles has been sick in bed for three days, with a doctor looking in on him. The frightened boy confides that a strange feeling has come over him. His right hand, he says, no longer belongs to him. It has changed, somehow, into something else. The doctor dismisses his concern as nothing more than a fever dream and gives him a pill. Soon, however, Charles perceives the same transformation taking place in the rest of his body—his other hand, his legs, and eventually his torso. In terror, he begins to suspect that the disease inside him is taking over his body, infecting and replacing him cell by cell until nothing is left. Nobody believes him—not the doctor, not his parents. Suddenly, however, Charles makes a miraculous recovery. And he begins expressing a sinister desire to come into physical contact with as many people and animals as possible. Is this really Charles? Or is it something else entirely, some unknowable entity that has emerged from within and now wishes to propagate? Anderson’s eerie illustrations complement Bradbury’s sinister and subtly apocalyptic tale. #fever #dream #sick #ill #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
