If you grew up hemmed in by restrictions, what would you do to overcome them? If you learned that something out there could let you transcend borders and boundaries, travel far away and explore parts unknown, wouldn’t you do anything to obtain it? @kirli.saunders and @mattottleyart delve into these questions in their inspiring The Incredible Freedom Machines. A young girl living in a shantytown surrounded by arid wasteland hears tell of strange devices that allow for an escape to wondrous, faraway places. Somehow, a seed pod on her tree drops off and transforms into a little hovercraft: her very own freedom machine. Now the girl is free to travel wherever she wishes, and she embarks upon a magnificent journey. Saunders’ uplifting text and Ottley’s fantastical illustrations come together for a gripping story of magic realism, culminating in the delightful reveal, on the final page, that the amazing vehicle is a metaphor for a very different kind of freedom machine: a book. #incredible #freedom #machine #read #reading #reader #readers #adventure #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
