Let Otfried Preussler and Gennady Spirin whisk you away on an immersive adventure to the ends of the earth and back again—this is The Tale of the Unicorn. Three brothers set off on a quest. Their goal is nothing short of capturing a unicorn, who it is said possesses a horn made of ivory, hooves of pure gold, and a diamond star on its brow. The oldest brother meets an innkeeper’s daughter who cooks wonderful food, marries her straightaway, and settles down. The middle brother happens upon a lump of gold in the desert, buys a fine house in a large city, and settles down. Hans, the youngest brother, travels onward through fire and water, through deepest night and coldest ice. When he at last reaches the unicorn, he stands transfixed, unable to kill the majestic beast. An unknown amount of time passes, and Hans returns to the world he knows, older and wiser than when he left. Preussler crafts a narrative that honors nature, beauty, mystery, and wonder. Spirin contributes a marvelous visual landscape of half-timbered houses, soaring cathedrals, and lonely forests. His unicorn is a triumph, instantly conveying to readers the sheer awe of its otherworldly presence. #unicorn #brother #brothers #journey #quest #adventure #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
