Today’s book is East o’ the Sun and West o’ the Moon, with text adapted from George Webbe Dasent’s translation in Popular Tales from the Norse and illustrations by the ingenious @pjlynchgallery. In many of his images, particularly the two-page spreads, Lynch uses extreme angles and stark lighting contrast to create breathtakingly dramatic composition. Through their outrageous poses and facial expressions, his characters come vividly to life. Incidentally, I have a video retelling of this fairy tale on my YouTube channel, also available through my website (link in bio).
